One area of web site indicates that online applications are closed and to show up on one of three open dates which are not any of open calls locations of Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, Newark, Miami or LA listed on another part of website. Please advise.

The first couple auditions are just between you and the producers, you can go ahead and sing what you like, if the producers like you, you’ll move forward to the auditions in front of everyone, including the judges (Simon and 3others) that’s when Simon doesn’t want you to sing songs like he said in the video. If you make it past the live auditions, you’ll move onto bootcamp, which is like the hollywood weeks on American Idol, then if you make it after boot camp (good luck) you’ll go to judges’ houses (the judges will be assigned a category of contestants, and everyone who makes it past boot camp will be put into a category and you’ll perform for that judge) Then they’ll decide who their final contestants are and those will be the people tht make it onto the live episodes. Then you’ll be voted off one by one like on American Idol.
This show will be a whole lot BETTER than American Idol and The Voice, so make sure you watch THE X FACTOR!

Why let them go on to more heartache when they just don’t have the skills? I look forward to seeing the X Factor. American Idol is not the same without you. I didn’t think I would watch IDOL without you but I do. I like all of the judges and Steven is a riot! I have always liked Jennifer. She is sweet. Randy is randy! Randy seems to be trying to take over the bad boy part now you are gone but no one can do it like you! By the way Simon I am sure you have heard this one many tomes too but you are not too bad to look at either for these old eyes! I am pulling for the new show X FACTOR to be a success.

IF YOUR parents are that strict, my advice is DONT audition in the first place as you will not go forward in the music industry as they have to sign off on everything. David Archulettas parents were A holes and almost ruined him.

If I were the producer of a show such as X FACTOR or AI, I would require that each participant sing the entire first verse (in their key of choice) of The Star-Spangled Banner, nailing every high and low note and not mangling the lyrics. Anyone who could manage this successfully might then be eligible to enter the next round. Christina Aguilera couldn’t do it on Super Bowl Sunday, and she’s a pretty good (actually, wonderful) singer. Just a thought…separate the wheat from the chaff up front.

    Hello Simon,
I went for my audition in L.A., Sunday, March 27th.
Simon, please understand that this is not about an angry woman complaining because she was not given a gold ticket.
In my audition, there were two judges at my booth, but the male judge had to leave to answer his cell phone.
I was informed that we are only allowed to sing for 35-40 seconds during each auditions. I sang the song (My Man, by Barbra Streisand), and I stopped at the 3rd or 4th verse. The lady judge never asked me to stop singing; I stopped because I thought my 40 seconds ended. The lady judge were smiling and seemed to enjoyed the audition. Since I was never told to stop singing, I should have continued up to completion of the song. I also wished the male judge were present during my audition, but most importantly I wished I were told to continue singing until asked to stop.
I am 62 years old, Simon, and because of my age, I am not asking to be treated differently. We seniors still have dream and we deserve a chance, but unfortunately it seems that the music industry is only focused on the younger generation.

Thank you for your time, Simon.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

I’m really upset because I couldn’t make it to Dallas today. The peson who made my plane ticket, messed it up. Is Dallas the last city or will X-Factor come to Atlanta? I really hope so.

I want to audition and definately will. The freaky goth poet who loves music . . . ain’t it obvious. :) I was wondering though about doing a song I wrote myself. It’s definately different and I have no music for it. Email me right away, if you could. Otherwise, I’ll just do the one I planned. Hope I shine!
