FOX, FREMANTLEMEDIA NORTH AMERICA AND SYCO TV today confirm Nicole Scherzinger will be replacing Cheryl Cole on the judging panel of THE X FACTOR. Nicole will join Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Paula Abdul on their search across America to find the next global superstar or group to win the life-changing $5 million dollar recording deal. Nicole has previously joined Simon Cowell as a guest judge on The X Factor for the UK version of the show in 2010. Steve Jones will act as sole host of THE X FACTOR.

    Great move!

Nicole – while not perfect – has much more charisma, is more dynamic, has a better voice and just generally makes more sense to have as a judge.

Cheryl can’t sing and has no place in a US talent competition.

This is a shame. Nicole hasn’t even been able to launch her own career successfully, and she’s supposed to help launch someone else’s? She’s pretty, but incredibly boring, and her solo career has been a flop.

Cheryl is a proven success in the UK and I don’t doubt she could charm her way into the hearts of Americans if given the chance. I heard so many stories from people at various auditions who said she did great and the audience loved her.

Cheryl Cole was the only reason I, and many others, were going to watch this show. Now that she’s out, so am I. She was the only thing that might have made the show a little different from AI and The Voice.

I can’t believe it. This was a completely horrible, irresponsible move on your part Fox.
I knew practically nothing about Cheryl Cole, but being a fan of Simon, Paula, and L.A., I went to see the taping of the Los Angeles auditions. Cheryl was an incredible judge, and I can honestly say that everyone in the audience responded well to her, even loved her.
Cheryl would have been welcomed by Americans, rather than Nicole, who is quite simply a ‘has-been’ in the minds of viewers.

I’m sorry that you’ve come to this decision, I honestly can’t say if I’ll watch the show now. The four judges I saw in Los Angeles were incredible, and I was really looking forward to seeing them create an equally as incredible show.

It is really sad to see the media try to light a competition between Cheryl and Nicole. Both are very good judges and should not be matched up.

Cheryl proved her ability as a judge and mentor by winning the X Factor UK two years running.
Nicole proved her ability as a judge by guest judging on the last season of X Factor UK.

It is sad to see Cheryl go but I believe Nicole will be really effective as a judge and mentor. Cant wait for the fall :)

Can’t say I’m shocked but I will say i’m disappointed.

Honestly I think Cheryl was more qualified: She won Popstars are Rivals, Girls Aloud is one of Britain’s most successful bands, Her solo career is doing great in the UK, She won 2 out of the 3 seasons of the X Factor UK, AND on top of that this would have been the best opportunity to introduce her to the American audience.

Nicole on the other hand won the US version Popstars but band broke up because of lack of success, pretty much had an okay solo career after that (she practically WAS The Pussycat Dolls), Did rather bad on that one talent show the sing-off, and the X Factor is not really going to help her career by that much or is her being on the show going to attract viewers.

Cheryl would have benefited the most out of the two and had the better qualification for the job. SHE WAS THE WOW Factor for this show, she would have been the beautiful talented new IT girl of the music industry … Now this show is practically American Idol part 2

Right now, the panel isn’t as good as those in AMERICAN IDOL and THE VOICE…. You compare Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Steven Tyler, Adam Levine, etc….. and THE X FACTOR only has Paula (who we’ve seen already) and Nicole (who’s flopped every time she released a single)… Cheryl Cole has THE X FACTOR and would have made this show a hit had she been given the chance to shake off the nerves. As an American who became exposed to the show back when Leona Lewis was a contestant, and who watched the show explode with Cheryl as judge, I am disappointed and will no longer be encouraging people to get into THE X FACTOR.

What a huge mistake in replacing Cheryl Cole – she’s a great judge, is very feisty and had great chemistry/debates with Simon Cowell on the UK version. She’s also young, current and knows the music industry very well. She absolutely can sing live and has had a hugely successful career in the UK and Europe, writing her own material and some great pop songs. She would’ve been great on US X Factor and your show will be poorer for it – I’m not being funny when I say this but the other judges are lacking!

With Cheryl you had someone YOUNG – the rest of the judges are not too relevant to the audience you are trying to attract to this show. It is the younger population who usually vote and the popularity of Cheryl in the UK proves how good a judge she is and what excellent charisma she has. Credible recording artists like Will. I. Am. rate Cheryl highly. She would’ve attracted that younger generation so all round it really is your loss!

I don’t know that much about Cheryl, but I would have loved to have learned more about her. Shame on FOX and the producers of the show. Especially that there is no reason in that statement about why they fired her. There was no real reason to fire Cheryl and I think she was getting along fine with Paula. You can’t expect people to become friends instantly right after they meet each other. You need more time than that. Not everyone gets along well with each other anyway. This was probably the plan all along. So pathetic. I know I’m not going to watch The X Factor because of this stupidity. If you really wanted to fire someone, you should have fired Nicole or LA Reid.

The so called racist incident everyone refers to was a load of nonsense, why the hell would she marry Ashley Cole if whe was a racist. The incident was just some sad lady trying to make a quick buck out of fame which is something that happens all the time. As for Paula Abdul, where does all the adoration come from. I switched off from American Idol because her comments sounded as if she was demented and she sounded drunk or on something most of the time. The lady is ridiculous. When Nicole performed on UK X factor her interview on stage afterwards was embarrasing, if you can find it on here, have a look and you’ll see what I mean. Cheryl may not be some huge icon like others in the industry but she is good at picking out good singers. In sport you don’t have to be world class yourself to be a great coach and vice versa. Cheryl is a nice down to earth and very personable young girl. Have always been a fan of Simon but his popularity is waning and all the money in the world can’t buy likeability. By the way I’ve switched back on to American Idol, which was an amazing programme this year as the chemistry between Jackson, Tyler and Lopez is second to none.

She has worked her way up in the music business, from background singer in Days of the New to a singer in Eden’s Crush, and to the lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls (one of the biggest girl groups ever). She’s worked with tons of award winning artists.

Her solo career (especially in the UK) is doing great with 3 hit singles and a top 10 album, Killer Love. While Cheryl is qualified for the job, Nicole will do a better one in my own personal opinion. Don’t make Nicole to be someone she’s not. She’s a sweet person. Give her a break. LA Reid – qualified, but old… Paula and Simon – seen it all before… Nicole Scherzinger? – I mean, really – as a mentor? She made a mess of the launch of her OWN career, let alone trying to launch anyone else’s.
By removing Cheryl, you’ve removed pretty much anything interesting about this show. I hear she was a talent show winner herself, so between that and her age, she would have actually been a mentor that both the contestants and audience could relate to. Instead, we’ve got a rehash of the Simon/Paula show from Idol, a middle aged record exec, and a mid-30′s solo singer who’s album was shelved due to the singles bombing. Dull, dull, dull. Bad move, Fox.

She has judges some of the best acts on X Fcator UK. In the UK, Cheryl had had WAY More success than nicole, two multi platinum albums and numerous successful singles. Nicole’s album didnt even make the top five. I rarthesee a fresh judge that has had some success than someone who always throws herself at us on tv with numerous failed attempts at launching a career. WE WANT CHERYL!!!

I think Fox made the right decision by firing Cheryl Cole. If Cheryl is such a BIG star like some of you claim, how come no one has heard of her in the States or anywhere else in the world except the UK. Her ‘former’ band Girls Aloud has not talent at all, they just wiggle their bodies & try to look sexy. The truth is they CANT sing. When Cheryl sings live she lip syncs – and you cannot say that about Nicole. Nicole can sing, has a good heart and can move. For Cheryl to be a judge on the Uk panel, she was just lucky to be liked by Simon, otherwise the girl has ZERO talent! Well done Fox bosses

All I can hope for is that she breaks the US market with her music, and becomes a massive star in the States, and shows Fox the biggest mistake they have made so far. Cheryl is pretty, but Nicole is prettier; Cheryl can’t sing, but Nicole is a big talent; Cheryl has a UK fan base, Nicole has a worldwide fan base. And Nicole brings something else – the fans of her man (Louis Hamilton). Cheryl on the other hand has NO strong other-half, since she fell for the hype and foolish advice of the British media to dump her man. Somehow she convinced herself that the last name (Cole) was more useful to her than the man.

You get rid of a young but seasoned fresh face with a thriving career for a failed soloist who’s group hasn’t released anything in years. That is just a stupid decision in general.

On The Voice, you have current and relevant artists who’s still releasing music, know the industry, and are still in the public eye on the panel. What insight could Nicole possibly have to offer? How to flop without a troupe of sex-ed up dolls behind you?

Cheryl may not be known in America but I bet if you talked to a bunch of Brits, they’d have no idea who Taylor Swift is, would you say her career is a fail then? You don’t have to be known Worldwide to be considered a success and Girls Aloud and Cheryl are most definitely successful. More so than PCD and Nicole for sure. Talent is subjective, and irrelevant in this case. You don’t have to have talent to recognize it. This is about finding talent and building careers and Cheryl was simply the better candidate. Period. If she had to be replaced, they should have found someone on her level or better. Nicole is a downgrade. A major one. Sorry but she is.

Will still be watching the X Factor for the Simon/Paula factor I love but not as excited as I was. I can deal with Cheryl’s loss but I can already tell that Nicole is going to a headache on panel.

Not at all i’m a american and i like Cheryl Cole and i’m sure there are way more americans that like her as well. Who cares if she’s not american she can sing/judge and is entertaining to watch. And yea she speaks english with a newcastle accent but that does not mean you can’t understand her.

If you can’t understand her clearly you don’t know the english language very well to at least analyze or decipher what she is saying.

It’s time to bring new players into the game. And Cheryl Cole would have been one of the best candidates to judge this show. She already proved her self to be successful with her career in the UK.

First Paula which was reason #1 for me to stop watching AI, she was always lost in space and now Nicole, who can’t sing herself. What the heck? Simon has had a lack of judgement lately.

I’m glad that it’ll be Nicole! Love her. X-Factor US becomes more interesting with Nicole in it. Cheryl is just pretty, but sucks as a mentor. She is also very biased in choosing her team, she goes more for the looks, rather than the talent.

i think that bringing nicole into the show was a really smart move. even though cheryl has more experience than nicole, ive seen nicole judge before and know that she’s pretty good, and ive seriously never heard of cheryl before watching x factor, while ive heard a lot of pussycat doll songs and a few of nicole’s singles. besides, simon’s a experienced person in the music industy, and if he think’s cheryl should be fired, then it couldnt have been THAT bad of a decision, although there are down sides

    Nicole,
Don’t let the put downs bother you. You were elected to be where you are now and doing what you do, and that is being a X Factor judge. Keep up the good, hard work!
